About the scene of the State Hotel of Imatra

The scenes of the State Hotel of Imatra are very nice. The River Vuoksi has been dammed, and that means that the famous race remains only in the memories. But when we are looking at the scene, what is visible in the picture, what is in this text, we must feel that there is something mysterious in this scene, like something would stalk people in somewhere near the hotel.

And maybe I've just seen too many horror stories, but the feeling is that there is some Dracula or other Gothic character hiding near the hotel. Classic movies have some kind of beauty and style, and the scene of the State Hotel is remaining us from the lost time.  That time lives in the old movies and memories, and we ever cannot feel those things, what the old films are portraying. And as you know, those old scenes of old movies are modeling our way to think about this kind of places.

Because we haven't seen those happenings ourselves, those images are living in our mind and forming some kind of movie clips, whatever been existed. Those things are living in our minds and become the same as our memories. Then we cannot separate real memories, and memories that are caused by some film, if we were young or babies what means that we could hardly walk when we saw that scene.

Those things remain in our memory for the rest of our life because memory cannot select the important things and for the young child, every memory is important. And the specialists of memory would get those memories back to knowledge by using special methods. But the thing is that the persons cannot separate the films from real memories if they cannot compare the signals of other sensors with sight experience.

If a person is wearing clothes and cloves, there might not be the feeling experience and this kind of things are sometimes caused that person has lied about the things, what might feel interesting like being fireman, but there are no records about that thing. And the reason could be a false memory. But let's go back to the scene, what is visible in around the State Hotel.

The scene is at the same time mysterious, romantic, rugged and something scary. So there seems to be some kind of conflict with romantic landscape and feelings, what the ravine causes in the mind. In many scary movies the scene is at the same time romantic, but scary place. 

When we are thinking about the name of the river, "River Vuoksi" means high-water, and somebody has been thought that could there be some kind of wave traveling down of that river in history. The ravine is the "V"-shaped thing, what seems like made by using a plow, and there are big stones on the bottom. The thing, what makes this place so scary is the tale, that tens of people have committed suicide by jumping to this river, and in one other sign is a tale, that the river was like a captured wild beast when it traveled freely in the ravine.

Then the power company made dams, and power plant and the river was only the memory. This place has been many times being as a topic for painters, who could paint the wilderness by sitting on the terrace of the hotel. The thing is that access to that place is easy, and that is the reason why many artists visited in that place and painted an image of that race and ravine.
