Who wrote the book Gallic War?
During history is many things, what we just believe as facts, but what are only theories. The list of those theories is extremely long, and it consists the things, how tall Napoleon was to the ancient and at the same time battles, what are introduced as the fact. One of the most well-known examples of the battle, where is no historical evidence is the Battle of Alesia. If we think the size of Caesar's army that took part in the battle was 60 000 men. The thing is that after the battle Caesar claimed, that there were a million deaths.
Sometimes I have thought that was the reason to write that book, what seems like a lie, was to destroy the reputation of Caesar. So if that book was the combat report, the writings could be made by the enemies of Caesar for making senate give the death penalty. And this is a good example, why the leader should do all paper works self. If those things were given to henchmen, they might involve things to those reports, what is not true. That can damage the reputation of that leader.
The thing is mentioned as the most fantastic victory of Julius Caesar, but there are only the stories, what is told by Caesar himself as the evidence of this Battle. So if there were not a million men in that battle, the thing might be true, but let's say, that Caesar has still many things to explain about his fights.
When we are thinking the Dover Straight, the white rocks are the most well-known symbol of that place, and they have denied the attempts to conquer Britain many times, and the thing is that those rocks denies the use of cavalry, but maybe Caesar landed in some other place, but the thing is that those coastal rocks of Dover would deny effectively the use of the horses. If we would look at the evidence of the victories of this famous warlord, there is no other evidence about his battles than his and his henchmen stories. And I think that his famous book, the Gallic Wars has also rewritten many times during history.
But when we are thinking about the assassination of Caesar, we don't know were those bayonets stroke to Caesar by hand, or were the shot by the crossbow? And who saw those men? But the stories that have been told by Caesar are only one part of the stories, what might not be similar in history, what Caesar introduces them to the audience. But the question is, who is telling lies? Do those lies tell by Caesar himself or some of his political enemies?
Or were those tales told during the Medieval period or by the storytellers of some later rules of the Rome, because that book might be reserved for propaganda purposes? But there is a possibility that there were many writers of this book, and those writers served Caesar's enemies.
Maybe the book itself was written originally by Julius Caesar, and then the things in that book were changed for some reasons, what we cannot know. The book is very long, and there are parts, which are not written by the masters of rhetoric. That tells that there might be parts, what were removed and replaced by other texts.
There is one theory about this strange manuscript, and that is that the original version, what was shorter and partially written by Julius Caesar is one of the books, what was removed from the Vatical Library, or the imperial library of the Rome. Maybe Caesar was one of the writers of that book, but there might be writings, what were made by his bookkeepers. And there is one thought, that is it possible that Caesar didn't even see the version, what sends to Senate as the combat reports. This means that the enemies of Caesar were made own version of that book, for making Caesar seem like a liar in the eyes of Senate.
